Like the most diverse bacteria, fungi are part of the natural skin flora of all living beings – including horses. If their immune system is intact, then they have no problem with the presence of the fungus, but if this is not the case, the fungus can cause a skin disease in the horse due to overreproduction, which should be counteracted simply because of the risk of infection.
